Bible Centered Living

At one time in our society, the Bible used to be the standard for life.  For example, on our money we placed the words “in God we trust”.  The Bible was the basis for many of our courts laws and traditions.  Sadly, the Bible is not as much the standard for living that it once was.  However, the Word of God still promises the best life to those who follow it.  Since the Bible does promise the best life, how does one live a Bible centered life?

Bible centered living requires that one apply the principles of the Bible to everyday situations.  Paul said, “Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord…” (Col. 3:17).  Living by the Bible means when I am faced with a situation in life I look to God’s Word for the answer.   I ask the question, “What does the Bible say I should do in this situation?”.

Bible centered living requires changing one’s habits.  Once a person becomes a Christian he begins to walk in “newness of life” (Rom. 6:4).  One part of living the new life means that we change our old ways.  Paul commended the Christians in Corinth because they left behind their sinful lifestyles to become children of God (1 Cor. 6:8-10).  The Bible centered life must be a life of constant change to conform our will to the will of God.

Jesus said, “I came that you may have life and that you may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).  The best life one can live is a Bible centered life.  If your life is not all you want it to be, then it may be time to get back to living by the Bible.  May God help each of us to live Bible centered lives!
