COMFORT FROM ABOVE
Introduction:
A. 2 Cor 1:3-4
B. Comfort – “To console, to make someone feel better, to help or assist.”
C. There are some things that make us feel very uncomfortable:
o Death/ Disease/Sickness o Terrorism/Fear o Fear of the unknown o Sin
D. Be encouraged, there is comfort from above
E. In this lesson, I want to offer you 5 comforts from above.
I. There is a God of Comfort (2 Cor 1:3)
A. God exists (Ps 14f:1)
· Nature tells us (Ps 19:1; Rom 1:18-21; Acts 14:17) · The Word tells us (Gen 1:1; 2 Tim 3:16-17) *Song – There is a God
B. We can know Him (Phil 3:10ff; Jn 17:3) *Egyptian Sun God Rey
C. His nature comforts us
· Unchanging (Mal 3:6; Heb 6:18; Titus 1:2; Heb 13:8) · Loving (Jn 3:16; Rom 5:6-8; Jn 4:8) · Just (Gen 18:25; Nahum 1:7; Jn 12:48)
II. He promises to protect & care for you (Ps 23:4; Heb 13:5; 1 Pet 5:7)
A. God is our protector (Ps 18:2)
· Satan (1 Tim 3:7; Eph 6:11; Lk 22:31; heb 2:14) · Sin (Isa 59:1-2; Heb 10:12; Jn 1:29; Ps 103:10-13; Matt 26:28) · Self Bad Habits; Drug, Alcohol, Std’s

V. The Hope of Heaven
A. There are a host of comforting passages in Scripture about Heaven (Rom 8:18: 2 Cor 4:16-18; Phil 3:12-15; 1 Pet 1:3-4; Heb 4:9; Matt 25:46).
B. Our song books are riddled with beautiful songs about Heaven (Paradise Valley; How Beautiful Heaven Must Be; Heaven Hold All To Me)
