“The Gospel Plan of Salvation”
Introduction:
1. Our sermon today will be
much slower and simpler. This sermon
will require your participation.
Everyone please take a Bible in hand, your handout, a pencil and follow
along and fill in the appropriate blanks.
2. The most important question
a person could ever ask is “What must I do to be saved” (Acts 2:37; 16:30,
9:6).
3. This question is so
important it will affect my eternal destiny:
a. Heaven (Matt. 25:46).
b. Hell (Mk. 9:46-48).
4. In our sermon this morning
we will be asking/answering two soul awakening questions. The first question is:
I.
What must I know to be saved
(Jn. 8:32, Eph. 5:17)?
A. I am lost in sin (Rom. 3:23;
6:23, Ezek. 18:4, Isa. 59:1-2, Jn.
8:24).
B. I cannot save myself from
sin (Jer. 10:23, Jn. 6:68; Prov.
3:5-7; Prov. 14:12; 2 Tim. 2:10).
C. God saves me (Eph. 2:8-9;
Rom. 1:16, Rom 6:17, James 1:21, Matt. 7:21, Heb. 5:8-9, Lk.
6:46).
II.
What must I do to be saved (Jn. 7:17, Acts 16:30)?
A. Hear God’s Word (Rom. 10:17;Ps. 95:7; Heb. 11:6).
1. Recognize it’s
authority (Mark 9:7; Matt. 28:18; Col. 3:17; John 12:48).
2. Search, Seek & Prove it
to be true or false (Acts 17:11, I Thes. 5:21, I Jn. 4:4, Prov. 15:28; 2 Tim.
2:15).
3. The Importance of careful
hearing (Lk. 8:18; Mk. 4:24, Mk. 9:7).
B. Believe in Jesus.
1. The importance of believing
(Jn. 8:24; Acts 8:37).
2. Belief alone will not save
(James 2:24).
3. Four examples of believers
who were still lost after belief:
1. Jn. 1:12 (belief only gave them the right to
become…).
2. Jn. 12:42—Matt. 10:32-33.
3. Jn. 8:30, 44
4. Acts 9:6
C. Confess Jesus orally (Rom.
10:10, Matt. 10:32-33).
D. Repent of you Sins (Luke
13:3, Acts 2:38, Acts 3:19.
1. Not Sorrow alone (2 Cor 7:10).
2. Changed will that leads to a
changed way (Matt. 21:28-30; Lk 3:8).
E. Be Immersed
for the remission of sins.
1. Baptism is full body
immersion (Jn. 3:23; Rom 6:1-4; Mark 1:9-10; Acts
8:37-39).
2. Baptism is for Salvation
(Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16).
3. Puts one into Christ (Gal.
3:27, John 3:5).
4. Saves your soul (I Peter
3:21).
5. A command of God (Acts
10:47-48).
Conclusion:
Have
you done these things that are necessary for salvation? Have you truly answered life’s greatest
question biblically (James 4:14, 2 Thes. 1:7-10)?
